Meet the Trainer!

Hi! My name is Maddy, I am a balanced dog trainer, and this is a little about me! I went to college at SUNY Cobleskill and earned my Bachelors of Technology in Canine Training and Management. From there, I worked as a trainer for a company that bred and built green detection dogs for law enforcement and government agencies. I moved to Jacksonville at the end of 2025 to live with my husband who is stationed at Camp Lejeune. I have two personal dogs, Tia my mini Aussie, and Rosie my working Labrador who I adopted from the detection facility! I am a huge believer in dogs getting to be dogs in a safe manner. I think it is incredibly valuable to give dogs a genetic outlet and to let them perform the behaviors they were bred to do in an appropriate manner. Often so many behaviors present because a dog is searching for a way to fulfill their biological desire to do certain things and giving them a controlled way to do that can be so beneficial. All of my training sessions heavily incorporate relationship building, engagement games, and confidence building. I believe a strong bond between owner and dog goes lengths with training because your dog wants to work with you and wants to be engaged with you. This is something so simple and so easily built but it truly makes a difference in your dog’s behavior and willingness to participate in training!

Basic Training- 1 hour sessions

Personalized training for obedience, in-home manners, public manners, and more. These are individual sessions either in your home or in a public spaces evaluated for your dog’s specific training requirements and level of comfort. Each session is tailored to set you and your dog up for success in moving forward while also making it fun so your relationship flourishes!

Off Leash Training- 1 hour sessions
$90.00

Off-leash training will not be for everyone, to book these sessions I will need to evaluate if your dog will be successful off-leash or if we should take a step back, and put in some more work before moving to this level. This is entirely to ensure everyone’s safety, including your dog’s, and it also does not mean that your dog will never be able to be off-leash. These sessions will include a reliable recall as well as other commands used to properly manage an off-leash dog.

Puppy Training- 40 minute sessions
$50.00

Puppy training encompasses everything that comes with getting a new puppy. Potty training, crate training, learning their name, foundations for training, confidence building, and more. These sessions are shorter to accommodate puppy attention spans!

Cooperative Care Training- 30 minute sessions
$45.00

Cooperative care training consists of preparing your dog to do things they wouldn’t normally choose to do, but that need to be done. These sessions will help make vet visits, grooming, and other care items easier. These sessions are shorter because we will focus on one task at a time to lower any potential stress.

Reactivity Training- 1 hour sessions
$100.00

These sessions will address all forms of reactivity. We will focus both on modifying your dog’s behavior as well as giving you the tools to manage your dog and reading their body language to be able to better predict their behavior. Reactivity training will always start out in controlled environments where we can set both of you up for success moving forward.

Day Camps (Scheduled 8am-6pm)

Day camps are offered to existing clients. If you are going to be out of the house for awhile or simply want your dog to go on a fun adventure for the day you can schedule a day camp where I will pick your dog up at a set time, take them somewhere fun and fit for their needs, and then I will return them at a set time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • That’s totally okay! We will discuss this at your consultation and decide where to start. When we feel your dog is ready to tackle the next thing, we’ll move forward!

  • I do not take aggression cases. This is not my area of expertise and it could become very dangerous for all involved!

  • I prefer that you let me know about cancelations 48 hours before our session but you won’t be penalized unless you notify me the day prior to your scheduled session in which case you will be charged half the price of the session.

  • On the rare occasion that I would cancel a session, you would not be charged and you would receive a credit towards your next session.

  • Depending on the program you selected, if the weather is unsafe for your dog to be working (too hot, too humid, too cold), we would reschedule for a better day. I do not mind working in light rain but if you prefer not to, it would also be a simple reschedule!

  • I ask that you let me know as soon as possible regarding time changes. I try to be flexible within reason, 5-10 minutes late isn’t an issue. If you are over 15 minutes late, your session will be canceled and you will be charged the full amount. Changing the time of your session will depend what I have scheduled for that day.

  • I am willing to travel within reason but any bookings farther than 45 minutes away will receive a travel fee of $20.

  • This means that I utilize training tools when I see fit based on the dog in front of me, the owners comfortability, and on if the tool will foster a productive, working environment. Tools are only ever introduced properly, under supervision, and if they are appropriate for the dog’s temperament and personality. Training tools are not one size fits all!
